Palette Swatch | Urban Decay Vice Lipstick

Stunning! That’s what this palette is. I don’t think I have ever purchased a lip palette before. I have a lip palette that I put together in my professional kit, but none like this. Bravo Urban Decay! I own almost every VICE palette that Urban Decay has out out. So when this one came out it was a no-brainer. I can say I hesitated for a second because it is completely different from the other VICE’s but I knew it had to be in my collection all the same.
I purchased this one at Ulta. Sephora has one as well, but with different colors, called the Junkie Vice lip palette. It kind of drives me crazy that Ulta and Sephora will get pieces of a line and they will have two different products from the same company in different shades. This palette for example. I went with Ulta’s because I can see myself wearing the bottom row all year around.
Inside you will see a mixture of glossy sheers, satins, mattes, and shimmers.
All of the colors in the palette swatched beautifully. 714 is the only one that felt like it could be a little dry on the lips. Probably because it is the most matte one in the palette.  (top row, all the way to the right)

Without flash.
It also comes with a swanky retractable brush that I am very pleased with. So classy.
And of course I have the rest of the packaging for those who like to see the whole shebang.

Look of the Day | Hocus Pocus

I absolutely love when someone reaches out to me to do a collaboration that brings me outside the box. I had a gracious young lady on Instagram, @martilouwho,  do just that. The soul purpose of this look? HALLOWEEN GLAM. My first thought was Halloween colors, witches, and potions. That lead me immediately to thinking about the movie “Hocus Pocus”. I love that movie! Such a great all around family movie. This was my first attempt at making bubbles ever. As an artist, I feel like I have a long way to go when it comes to doing drawing images with beauty products. I feel like this was a solid attempt. What a fun way to kickoff the fall season.

Beauty Buys | Colour Pop

dsc015901COLOUR POP!!!!!!  I cannot tell you how many times I I put items into a my shopping cart and then deciding to exit out. I finally jumped on the wagon and started by purchasing 3 eye shadows and a lip gloss. I am hooked! Within 2 weeks I ended up with all of these. I cannot believe how affordable and amazing these products are. Before I get into swatching I want to add that Colour Pop is made in the U.S. and that they don’t test on animals.

I cannot believe how pigmented and creamy these shadows are. They are so light and creamy that when Too Shy (the blue one) came in the mail it was all cracked and crumbled. I emailed the company to let them know and they wrote back and told me to just press the shadow back to shape and it would be “like new”. At first, I was a tad aggravated because it wasn’t “like new” after I pressed it because it didn’t have the pretty pattern anymore. But, I then got real with myself and tried to to look on the bright side, the product works exactly the same and maybe that’s how Colour Pop can keep their costs so low.

And talk about longevity! I washed this arm two times with soap and the color was still stained on it.dsc016031

I purchased one of each lip product just to start trying them out. The Lippie Stix Pillow Talk and the Lip Gloss “Bestie”

The Lippie Stix glides on creamy and smooth. The lip gloss looks a little patchy when it is first applied to the lip but it balances out after I rub my lips together. In my opinion, it’s best over a lip filled in with liner or on top of another lipstick.

They have quite a few highlighters and it was soooo hard for me to choose just one. Butterfly Beach, there is no denying how gorgeous this color is. It is very creamy and build-able. I have tried it on a few different occasions and want to love this so much. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to work it into my routine. It makes my foundation choppy on the areas that I apply it. Now that I am sitting here typing out this post it becomes more obvious that it could just be the brush I’ve been using. I think I just need to layer it in a different manor or with a different brush. I’m sure it’s user error. I will update this post when I get this figured out.

Lastly, the lip liners. They apply creamy and feel nice on the lip. I like how well they blend and that there is a wide variety to choose from. They claim to be long wear, but I find that they aren’t as “long-wear” as I was hoping them be. If you are looking for a “long-wear” lip liner I highly recommend checking out Estee Lauder or Urban Decay lip liners. Even NYX’s liners last longer than these. But, if you have dry lips and don’t have a problem with liners coming off, then these are for you.
